How to Link NIN to MTN

The Federal Government has directed telecommunications firms to prohibit outbound calls on mobile lines that are not linked to a National Identification Number (NIN).

This came after subscribers were urged to register their SIM cards with NIN or risk having their lines blocked or disconnected by the end of December 31, 2020.

However, many Nigerians with NIN are unsure how to link their phone numbers to their NIN.

How to Link NIN to MTN

There are 2 ways to link your NIN to your MTN line.

MTN NIN Registration Code (USSD Code)

You can do your MTN NIN Registration on your mobile phone by dialing the MTN NIN Registration Code on your phone.

The MTN NIN Registration Code is *785#.

To link your NIN to an MTN number, simply dial *785# on the MTN phone number you wish to link.

A list of options will be displayed on your phone as seen below:

Type 1 and press send to choose option 1.

Another prompt will display where you can now input your 11-digit NIN or 16-digit vNIN.

Enter your NIN and submit.

Alternatively, you can directly dial *785#Your NIN# from the MTN phone number you wish to link and your number will be linked to your NIN automatically.

Visit https://nin.mtnonline.com/nin/ to link your NIN to your MTN line.

On this page, you can submit your NIN for each of your MTN lines, including your MiFi & Hynet Flex.

How to Link NIN to MTN – MTN NIN Registration

Select your NIN type (NIN or vNIN).

Type in your phone number.

Lastly, if you wish to enter your email address, do so.

Press next and your NIN will be linked to your MTN line.
